Life as a Gift: My Insights after Drowning, by David Thomas, on October 2nd, recorded on October 30th at the San Diego Chat Club.

DAVE THOMAS 102910

David Thomas had an NDE while diving off Point Loma in 1989. He was down 90 feet below the surface, the equivalent of three atmospheres, when he had a major equipment failure. He decided to come to the surface to die rather than drown. As a result of his surfacing so quickly, he had multiple air embolisms, that is, nitrogen bubbles that affected his major organs. His lungs burst; he had multiple heart attacks; his spinal cord failed; and finally, his brain gave out. He spent some time in a decompression chamber at UCSD, where he was healed.

David will also talk about his struggles coming back, and how he learned to embrace life as a gift, however difficult it may seem.

David is the owner of Alpine Glass and lives in Alpine. He was a student of former IANDS president and the founder of ACISTE, Yolaine Stout, who encouraged him to share his experience. He has been featured in an A&E documentary that is currently being finalized.

It was aired on Sunday, December 12th as part of the Biography series I Survived: Death and Back.
